You may have guessed… this is my blog’s new name!!!

I found it while looking for something else, which is usually what happens in life, do not look and you will find…

So, as I was trying to find a translation for the word “voyage” (trip, travel in French) in Tahitian, while I was crawling through the gigantic maze of Internet, I stumbled upon the word Biyahi… which comes from Cusco’s Quechua, the ancient language of the Incas, still spoken in the Andes…

The musicality of the name immediately struck me, and since I have had the most amazing travel adventures in the Andes and out of Cusco, I’d found the perfect name!

It is also, for the moment, not so much in use on internet, but hopefully, thanks to my growing online audience, the name will appear on top of search engines listings very soon (without dreams, nothing much happens eheheh !!)

And, honestly, I have so many Peruvian tales to tell, from the 5 years I have lived there….

After an extraordinary set of coincidences (destiny?) I was, one day of 1999, standing in the middle of the Plaza de Armas in Cusco…. the taste of the air, filled with centuries of memories, every piece of stone a reminder of the past, from the Inca temple to the Spanish churches…. the brightness of colors, the smiles…. a voice in my head said “I want to live here!”.

I am usually quite perseverant, some would even say I got a head like a rock, the fact is that, when I really want something I usually end up getting it (except for things that are clearly out of reach and out of my control, but that is for another chapter…)…

It took me another 3 years to go back to Peru and make it my new home, on May 1st, 2002, Labour Day….

Peru is a land of amazing sights, a real life kaleidoscope of colors, tastes, smells, climates…. so be prepared to read about this beautiful country in many future posts! For the time being, here are a few glimpses of what life was there, an introduction of what the next Biyahi chapters will be…

Hasta pronto!
