I guess it has to do with my Food & Beverage Management years, but as I now spend a great deal of my time teaching international students, I have a frequent need to go out of the classroom and bring students “on the floor” (Food and Beverage or Hotel operations, for my non hotelier readers!), and experience what happens in real hotel or restaurant life.
One of my favorite topic is “Arts de la Table”, a vast subject which includes a variety of topics, from the origins of gastronomy to service protocols, table etiquette, tableware classification, food and wine pairing….
Last week, before C19, which seems like centuries ago -hard to think that one could still walk around freely, and even aimlessly, in the streets of Paris-, I had the pleasure of welcoming students from the AIM school (Académie Internationale de Management) https://www.aim.fr/, for their final practical exam at The Ritz Paris, http://www.ritzparis.com/en-GB.
As member of the jury, I had to make sure each team setup the table in the Gramont meeting room, according to the “case study” they had been assigned : a VIP lunch hosted by UK’s Chamber of Commerce officials, with Guests of Honors such as an Ambassador and members of the British Parliament.
This post is dedicated to the BS1 students : you all did a fantastic job with the Ambassador’s table!!
We did not get a chance to gather since then, as C19 spread around our city and the world… And I really wanted to share some of the pictures with you, as I did not get a chance to publish them anywhere, so here you are! Congratulations for a great team work!
GREAT JOB!! and see you all soon at the reopening of the school!
PS. : well done for the homework too!
