I have now been writing short hospitality stories for a few months, and I thought it is now time to pause for a few moments, and tell you a little bit about the author of these lines!
Firstly, let me confess : I have deactivated my facebook account last week (got some “friends” angry at me in the process!), for two reasons :
- I want to be able to concentrate my efforts on this blog, which will later be extended to a webpage, build an online reputation, and not spend so much time on a social network
- I am somehow against the idea of a big corporation selling my private information to announcers so that they can send me loads of unwanted advertisement for products I don’t need… no thanks!
Saying that, I will continue using Linkedin as I find professional networking more worthwhile and useful, and still serves as a great networking tool for our industry.
So, enough about social networks, here is the virtual me :
After more than 20 years “on the road”, I wanted to give back and share some of the knowledge with the future generations of hoteliers, and try to convey that passion for the hospitality industry.
The best way to do that, in my view, is through education, this is the reason why I joined the Cordon Bleu Paris in 2014, to setup a new Restaurant Management Programme, designed for aspiring entrepreneurs in the field.
Paralelly to my activity, I began writing about my experiences in hotels, through BIYAHI, with a main objective in mind : to open a window into this unique world.
My ultimate goal is to create a consulting company, offering advice to restaurant and hotel owners. I also wish to participate in the creation of training courses and programs in schools, particularly in countries where tourism is used as a lever to lift populations out of poverty (I have spent 5 years working in Peru, and can vouch for the benefits of sustainable tourism against misery).
