June marks the end of the academic year, a time for both reflecting on the year gone by, and the beginning of the preparation stage for the next one!
As I begin writing this post, many images stroll by in my mind, and I can’t help to think how fortunate I am to be teaching such exciting and varied subjects in the realm of hospitality! Developing courses for this industry requires bringing many practical activities, so I often take my students out of the classroom to experience the “real world”. A department manager in a hotel needs to be like a swissknife: being able to jump in during the restaurant’s rush hour at breakfast, help the team make coffees, reset tables… and a few minutes later perhaps assist the housekeeping department with bedmaking, turndown service… office work can wait!
A big thank you to all the schools that entrust me year after year, and give me the opportunity to interact with so many students from all over the world, and help them discover the many facets of Hospitality Management in the luxury hotel industry : Food & Beverage Management, Arts de la Table, Budgeting, Sourcing & purchasing, Concept Development and much more.
There is never a dull day in school, trends evolve at such a tremendous speed! Knowledge, skills are constantly updated, reviewed, in the classroom and through industry visits, wine and cheese tasting, Company Cases, development projects…
As the saying goes, pictures speak better than words, so here is a little summary of 2024 featuring hundreds of star students! Many thanks to all of you for your constant participation and interest.
